To say the least, Massachusetts and Oklahoma are two states with very different K–12 education systems.

Massachusetts is known for top-notch public schools and high test scores. Oklahoma, under Ryan Walters, often struggles near the bottom of national rankings.

How did this happen?

In short: it’s a choice. A lot of choices, actually.

This is a story of two very different approaches to education. One state decided to treat public schools like a serious investment. The other… not so much.
